Update #3: Safari could not install a profile due to an unknown error.

Production version of the webstie has been updated to enable it to email the profiles now. If you get an error when installing via Create Profile you will have to use the Email Profile Option. This error is caused by the jailbreak/unlocking software which people use not via the iOS software itself.

Update: All the reports I’ve had have been from Jailbroken iPhones (and all except 1 on iPhones 3G’s) . The profiles install perfectly if they are sent via email to the iPhone and done via the email client. I will have that option set up alter today so until then make sure you have your iPhone’s email set up.

I’ve had chance to get an iiPhone which has the above error. If you are getting this error please let me know if its a 3G or a 3GS iPhone and if it has been jailbroken or not. The one I have is a 3G and is jailbroken and another person had 2 iPhones (3GS or a 3G) and the problem only occured on the 3G (jailbroken unknow)

I’ve found a work around to it on the iPhone I have but please let me know if its the 3G iPhones which have been jailbroken only?

I noticed that a few people where not entering any details into the APN Changer and then clicking Create Profile. This would create an invalid settings file and give an error message. I have added a few checks to the website so it will give a pop up on the screen if you are not entering any information into the form (or not selecting a country).

If your Carrier/Country is not listed please get in touch with me and let me know the Country/Carrier Name and the APN Settings so I can add it to the list.

We all know iOS 4 came out yesterday but it has put a little strain on my website today. I had over 20,000 visitors. A New record! Go Go iPhone. Now to wait until the iPhone 4 comes out!

BEFORE you Install iOS4

There seems to be a bug that is affecting some people. if you have installed an APN Profile in Pre iOS4 and install iOS4 , the old profile may not be liked by iOS4 and hide it away.
When you try and install a new profile it will say you can only install one profile (but you cannot remove the old one after installing iOS4)

I suggest people uninstall the old profile first (Settings, General, Profile, Click on the Profile and then Click Remove.

Then you can install iOS and then install a new profile with no problems.

iPhone APN Related Error Messages

Sometimes due to various reasons you may get error messages when you are installing APN Settings (from here or other websites). The errors may include the ones below.

“Only one APN configuration can be installed at a time”
“Cannot Install Profile. Safari could not install a profile due to an unknown error”

Normally these errors may be fixed by uninstalling previous APN Settings Profile from Settings->General->Profiles.
If this doesn’t work a full restore and then installing the APN Settings again (before you sync with itunes)

Disabling Cellular data on iOS 4 (iPhone OS4)

When the iPhone first came out there way no proper way of disabling cellular data on the iPhone (apart from using an invalid APN (what Fake APN did)) to disable Data.

In iOS 4 (iPhone OS 4) they have put in an option to allow you to disable cellular data.

This can be found in Settings, General, Network and called Cellular Data. Just set this to Disable to disable Cellular Data on the iPhone.

iOS 4 (Previously called iPhone OS 4) GM version was released yesterday . A lot of testing has been done and I’ve found no problems with it working. Hopefully in a couple of week the public version of iOS 4 will be released maybe.
